Dorothy Siemens

for Fiddlesticks Knitting   2009

Gloriana is a truly regal garment, richly embellished with textured lace and lovely details. Feel like a queen when wearing this beautiful cardigan! (A fabulously feminine hunting pink-- Ed.)

Knitting begins with the peplum, which is worked in one piece from bottom edge to waistband. The waistband is then worked sideways to the peplum, attaching peplum stitches as the waistband is worked. Bodice stitches are picked up from the waistband and then worked in one piece to the armholes, where work is divided for fronts and back. Shoulder seams are sewn. Sleeves are knit flat, then sewn to garment. Finally, front bands and collar are worked and buttons sewn on.
