Sirdar

c.2009

8824 Cardigan
WEB EXCLUSIVE

We've remarked before on Sirdar's remarkable ability to produce garments that really transcend seasonality. Imagine this in a green mix or heather-- like the Click Chunky Cobble or Tarn colours-- and we see spring and summer gardens. It's a very simple straight-sided piece with raglan sleeves (not full-fashioned), with wide ribbing on the hem and cuffs. But the glory is the collar, of course. It's made in one piece and is much easier than it looks: you begin at the outer perimeter and work inward to the neck, shaping with decreases and a change of needle size only. Then you sew it on. Spectacular. The Connemara Chunky was introduced after this pattern, but should work well if you get gauge.
