Bergere de France

148.51 Deep V Neck Jersey

Beginner Bergere de France patterns are not thick on the ground, but this offering shines. The hem and cuffs are a 1 x 1 rib for 1"/2.5cm, then st st happens for the rest of the garment. Its sides are straight, but the back neck and shoulders are shaped; sleeves are set in. The overall shape is narrow-- this is not a generously-cut garment. There is a bit of 'complete the other side, reversing the shaping', but it's not hard. The pattern has you make a very long 2-row-high 1 x 1 rib edging and sew it around the neck, but by all means pick it up, knit out, and cast off if you prefer. The little tank shown underneath this jersey is available separately here.
