8360 Smock and Hat (birth to 4 years)

This is an absolutely ideal way to acquire a new stitch skill. Neither in yarn that's too thin and fiddly, nor bulky and awkward; DK weight is just right. And you want to do it over a smallish field, too, so the whole thing can be looked on as rather a giant swatch. And really, with this smocking stitch, there's only 2 rows out of 12 that demand any special maneuvering, and it's rather fun. Back bodice is the same as the front, and the sleeves offer a little echo of it; sweet.
