Bergere de France

120.25 Sweater with Lacy Edges

While the British have taken the part-raglan-finish-yoke-in-round construction in various traditional directions, the French have apparently said, "and why can't this be sexy, too?" So here you are. This is really quite easy-- the back and fronts (worked flat) are the same, and the only internal shaping is for the waist (of course), and the belling of the sleeves. The open stitch of the cuffs and yoke is only a one-or-two-row affaire (depending on whether it's knit in the round), which involves working into back loops and then ravelling down. Not hard. But oh!-- the effect is wondrous, summery and alluring. If you can's get the Flamme Lin, Bergere de France recommends the Cascades-- just get gauge.
