Kelly Machado

for Knitting on the Fringe

Esther Jacket

This stunning long jacket is worked from side to side. Short rows are used to make it an A-line. The A-line shape gives you a wonderful tailored fit and allows you to create figure flattering vertical stripes. The flared panels are knit separately and are sewn in. Short rows make this an intermediate knit. (There's a store in Florence, Italy, called A Piedi Nudi Nel Parco-- yes, Barefoot in the Park-- where this jacket would probably sell as a finished piece for about 2,000 euros. Or you can knit your own for far less. Marvellous-- Ed.)
