Yumiko Alexander

for DanDoh   2008

K-040108 Rolling Hills

"This is easy construction," promises Alexander. "No seaming. It is interesting-looking around the collar using a long printed yarn with stitch pattern. It is fun to knit." Here is the beauty of the East made accessible to Western eyes and hands: the simplicity of it still startles. You begin at the collar and work down. The 'bobble' shapes are just that; essentially you're making unclosed bubbles. It's easy, and interesting. The body is a combination of lace and dropped stitches combined with garter stitch. Straight 'armholes' are included for a stole effect; these are edges with a little single crochet. Everyone should make at least one in their knitting lives. A tunic version is available here.
