for Impeccable Knits 2010
Fogarty's Cove Hat (teen/adult)
A unisex cable hat in the most lusciously soft alpaca yarn – the Fogarty’s Cove Hat celebrates another of Nova Scotia’s natural treasures.
Fogarty’s Cove, made infamous in Stan Roger’s 1976 song, is a breathtaking wilderness area home to the bald eagle, osprey, moose and bear. The sample is knit in the “Fog” colourway – what could be more perfect?
You'll see an attention to detail in this design that is the hallmark of thoughtfulness and function. Notice the smooth transition from the cabled ribbing to Y-cable that continues to travel up the hat to the crown as an irregular rope cable while intervening stitches are knit in a seamless twisted 1 x 1 rib.
The fit is beanie/toque style but can easily be worn further back on the head as a mini-slouch. Directions are included for deepening the hat to create more of a slouch.
PLEASE NOTE: Scarf shown in photo is not included. It is a separate pattern: Drumlin.
