Mary Bonnette & JoLynne Murchland

for The Sassy Skein   2009

1103 Classy Lassy Cardigan

Bonnette and Murchland have a positively Floridian way with colour (naturally, they live there). Here they depart from their usual intense colour blocking and use their bright cotton in a terrific slip-stitch/mosaic pattern around hem and on the fronts and cuffs. (A tropical homage to the traditions of Eastern Europe-- love it!) The garment is worked (in Crossed Stockinette Stitch throughout) in one piece to the base of the sleeve, then split for fronts and back with no special shaping, to make a simple drop shoulder. Sleeves are picked up and knit down flat from the armhole. It's neat, pretty, and unusual. Hat pattern not included.
