Tweed Baby Blanket

A tweedy baby blanket inspired by the traditional Hap Shawls of Shetland. Center square is worked back and forth in garter stitch; lace edging is picked up and worked in the round with two or more colors. Two colors of DK tweed may be used to make this blanket. Sample used the following: main color, approx. 585 yards (535 metres) of City Tweed DK in 'Tahitian Pearl'; contrast color: approx. 275 yards (252 metres) of City Tweed DK in 'Orca'. Blanket is blocked as for lace to create a woolly fabric with great drape and hand. Pattern utilizes an I-Cord Bind-Off (instructions included)-- one of my favorite knitting tricks!

Enjoy!
Jared

(We are thrilled to introduce Brooklyn Tweed to Patternfish with this wonderfully uncommon, yet firmly traditional, baby blanket-- Ed. Gauge is given over garter stitch.)
