Girasole

A traditional circular lace shawl, worked in heavier yarn makes a unique home accent as a blanket, or, worked in fingering weight wool, an elegant and timeless piece of shetland lace.

Pattern is shown in both sizes/gauges. Blanket Version (Yellow) measures 72” in diameter after blocking and is worked in Cascade Pastaza on Size 10.5 needles using approx. 1800 yards. Shawl Version (Brown) measures 51” in diameter after blocking and is worked in Jamieson’s Spindrift on Size 6 needles using approx. 1150 yards.

Blanket Gauge: 4sts/in in Stockinette St, unblocked;
Shawl Gauge: 6sts/in in Stockinette St, unblocked;

I absolutely love how yarn choices can make the same lace pattern into two completely different finished pieces. The Pastaza version is half wool, half llama and very warm. It is a wonderful blanket to have around the house to keep warm. The Shetland version is absolutely fantastic! It is light as a feather, soft and wooly - perfect for keeping warm when outdoors without adding too much bulk.

Be creative with your yarn choices and enjoy the pattern!
