KS109 Self Fringing Shawl

Much of the wonder of the Keep It Simple patterns is that they really are easy, and therefore don't need a lot of explanation. This is a shawl knitted in st st, from the wide edge of the triangle down. (This also provides options for wearing it knit- or purl-side out.) But as Selesnick points out, "the fun begins" with the fringing, which is ingeniously built into the body of the shawl, and does not require dexterity with a crochet hook to apply afterwards. The enjoyment is equalled by the ease, and who knows? Afterwards you may find yourself using this technique on all kinds of things.
