1420 Ruched Front Cardigan

When you have a lot going on visually in your basic outfit, you want a plainer piece than this. But when your basic outfit is plain, it cries out for interest-- and here Meadows delivers big time. It's a simple garment in silhouette, with waist shaping and moderately set-in sleeves. The ruching is naturally what makes it. It's accomplished easily through sudden and emphatic stitch increases and decreases (this is easy to do, if a bit time-consuming). Two sets of hooks and eyes provide closure. Making it in a bright colour just underlines the whole attitude: "Why, yes, I am a girl, and yes, I wanted to make something of it."
