Asymmetry in Stripes

"This asymmetrical vest is knit side to side with short row shaping," says Tully. "Shoulder seams and sewing on buttons are the only finishing required. Techniques used in this pattern are decreasing, increasing, long tail, knit or cable cast on, buttonholes and short row shaping." Worked in one piece, it's traditional in a sense-- a vest is a traditional garment, after all-- but the horizontal construction and irregularly-placed stripes are completely modern. Wear it under something if you want, then watch people's reactions when you reveal it.
