This is a very unusual shape for a handknitted cardigan, and yet almost everyone has had a piece like this in their wardrobe at some time-- with good reason. It's old-fashioned and yet always new, and it's extremely becoming. Just about anybody or any age with any body type looks great in this, because of the drape and vertical lines created with the extra fabric of the fronts. Whether short- or 3/4-sleeved (armholes are slightly cut in and sleeves have a small cap), this piece will be a mainstay for years. Heck, sew the fronts closed almost to the top and you've got one of those great barmaid blouses.
