The Breton Hat
"I've been a hat addict for a long time," confesses Hunter. "I wear one almost every day. If I don't, someone always asks where my hat is! I've made many hats from fabric and have blocked both wool felts and straw capelines or hoods using wired edges for shaping and support. This Breton is a result of my search for a knit hat with a brim that is unsupported by a stiffener." She notes that this yarn normally knitted to 12 - 16 sts to 4"/10cm, but that the firmer gauge she specifies is crucial to giving more body and structure to the piece. It's gorgeous, the flower and leaf instructions are included, and the pattern is extremely detailed.
