Sirdar

9140 Cardigan (age 5 up)
WEB EXCLUSIVE

A new version of this massively popular style, this time in chunky-weight yarn, so it's extra-fast to make; and the classic Saxon braid around the yoke just makes it that much more appealing. You begin by making all the pieces separately from hem or cuff up, in a raglan style, but then stop before much of the shaping is completed. Then the long cable strip is worked (shaping for shoulders in done with short rows). Join the (abbreviated) raglan, side, and sleeve seams and sew on the yoke strip; finish borders as usual. Definitely not as hard as it looks, and supremely attractive.
