Helen Hamann

2009

209 Rainbow Cardigan

With this introductory entry on Patternfish, Hamann reveals herself a knitting couturiere. The particular brilliance of this design is the care taken in its simplicity. There's a provisional cast on (Hamann-style, fun and high-class), a sewn bind-off, a pleat, lots of tips for working the intarsia, and very clearly outlined steps of execution. The designer clearly believes that God is in the details. So when you're finished this, not only will you have an intensely flattering garment with magnificent drape (the sport-weight yarn is worked at a DK tension), you'll have a garment wrought like no other you own. Work in either one (or both?) of the two yarns of hers given.
