309 Nancy One-Skein Shawl
This easy shawl has a very unusual perimeter that makes terrific sense. It's shaped like a warbird out of a science fiction movie-- or a diamond with a long rectangular cutout from one of the points to the centre. This, of course, allows it to sit safely on the shoulders without falling off all the time. Simply worked in st st, you knit its shape and then work the garter stitch ruffle around the edge afterwards. The Nancy is lightweight (10 ply to DK) and a thick-and-thin yarn worked on very much larger than usual needles, which gives extra dimension, drape, and interest to the piece.
