SS2005-1 Lace and Ruffle Cardigan
This was the cover design from a spring/summer 2005 designer book, and is justly famed for its sheer loveliness. The overall lattice stitch is only 12 rows high, and not too demanding (the even rows are active lace ones, the odd just purled or knitted and purled). The glory is that every piece is so carefully shaped and tailored. Back neck, shoulders, armhole, sleeve cap, the slight upward flare of the garment-- all are curved to flatter. And selvage stitches are included. Not for beginners; the right front is worked as for left front, reversing all shaping, and the ruffle is picked up along straight lines and knitted out (and sewn together at back neck and corners). But what a feast of a piece!
