Checkerboard Mesa Hat

Blanchard: "The colorful Checkerboard Mesa Hat features colorwork, corrugated (i.e. 2-color) ribbing, and fun curlicues on the top. The Adult size uses size 8 (US) needles and the Child’s size uses size 6. It is a terrific way to use up all those colorful odds and ends in your yarn stash. Consider using six contrast colors plus two neutrals such as black and white." Blanchard is a colour and fair isle wizard, and this hat is a marvellous exercise in both. The curlicues are great fun, too, and surprisingly easy to make.
