A finalist in the Cutest Outfit Ever sweepstakes, this has endless appeal to the parent of today (and tot, for that matter). It is not gooey or flouncey or cutesy in any way. The only thing that sets it apart from the kind of upscale casual you'd find at Banana Republic is the (optional) ears on the hood; but even they are cool, minimalist, knowing: like an in-joke, the kid's own conscious nod to childhood. The I-cord for the leggings has its own demo on the publisher's site, selvage stitches for easier seaming are provided, and both wee girls and boys are beautifully provided for. A doll-size version is available here.

In the decreasing of the front I run out stitches! If you subtract the number of decreased stitches from the 44 sts you cast on you end up with minus 4 sts! What am I doing wrong?
Bind off 3 sts on each side = 6
Dec 2 sts on each right side = 26
Dec at side edges once more = 2
Dec total of 8 sts at center = 8
Dec twice more on right side edges = 4
Bind off 2 sts = 2
Total bound off and decreased # = 48 (4 more than I started with at 44!)

Hi Shula,
This might be a bit late but you have forgotten to increase - after doing the ribbing you have to increase to 58 stitches in your first row.
