CH21e Warm Winter Dress (for 2 - 6 years)
Is there such a word as 'daint'? How else can something be 'dainty'? This is a very unusual design, being at once warm (as advertised) and very feminine, too; usually you have to have a fine yarn before 'dainty' springs to mind. And yet, this is. The slip-stitch pattern and the way it's used reminds one of smocking. This particular pattern also calls to mind that dear Scandinavian embroidery which often graced antique sweaters. "Bodice is worked first," says Galeskas, "then sleeves and skirt are picked up and worked down." Since the shoulders are cast off together, the only sewing is stitching the skirt hem in place. The slip-stitch pattern is written-out only.
