Chris de Longpre
for Knitting at KNoon 2006
Spanky (Ages 3 - 10)
Boys' sweaters are tough. Mostly they have to be unobtrusive and unobjectionable to please the kid, but adults like to see them looking unsloppy and cared-for. This piece "will keep him looking neat all day," promises De Longpre, adding that it's "so comfortable that we can't guarantee he'll stay out of mischief!" It's a classic with British roots: if you added some leather patches on the shoulders, you'd have almost a military look. Tapers up from the waist very gently for extra polish-- but don't tell him that. Sleek and tailored on girls, too. A version of this sweater for an 18" doll is available here, and a grown-up version is available here.
