Chris de Longpre
for Knitting at KNoon 2006
Darla (ages 3 - 10)
WEB EXCLUSIVE
"The apple of your eye takes on Victorian charm in this comfortable little pullover with ribbed lace 'smocking' at bodice, cuffs, and hem," says de Longpre. "A bow at the neck completes the look." This is a very charming piece, full of delightful details for the knitter, and lots of prettiness for the wearer. The keyhole neck is edged in attached I-cord; the unusual, easy, 4-row lace ribbing pattern is adapted ("with permission!") from Nancy Bush's 'Hose' (Knitter's magazine, Winter 1988); and the sleeves are modified drop (i.e., flat tops set into indentations in the body) for more tailored comfort. A version of this pullover for an 18" doll can be found here.
