Chris de Longpre

for Knitting at KNoon   2009

The design and the photo reinforce one another. Buffy's Xander was indeed a Clark Kent character, often buffoony but demonstrating superhuman qualities when really required. This sweater hints at that duality of character. It's very plainly styled, with high (i.e., good-fitting) sleeve caps and straight shoulders and back neck: solid and reliable. And it's worked in the round until you split at the armholes for front and back. But the striping hints at an unboring something else-- the ability to transition and do what's needed when it's the right time. Naturally there's a Spike and Giles as well.
