82464 Afghan

Often with a big bold yarn you don't have a stitch pattern bold enough to stand up to it. Not the case here: Schmidt wisely chooses a knit-purl motif with lots of guts, and big enough fields of knit and purl to make a statement even through a chunky variegate. The eyelets in the lace aren't so much 'lacy' as they are outlines of the knit/purl areas, defining the 'arrowhead'. Smile is an appealing acrylic/wool blend, machine- washable and cuddly soft. The motif is only 14 stitches across and 16 rows high-- this afghan is uncomplicated, quick to make and a joy in the home.
