Jeanne C. Abel

for Nature Speak Knits   2007

This shawl collared vest and jacket duo (named after the round-rib scallop) works up fast in super-bulky yarn. The body is one piece, and the sleeves are worked from the shoulder down, so … just two short seams at the shoulders! The button closure is optional.

Thanks Yvonne!

Another solution is to work the first round of garment stitches (the stitches worked IN the provisional stitches) on a much smaller needle (like a 9 or a 10). That also tightens up the cast-on & doesn't leave a loopy edge.

This is a wonderful pattern. I have made three vests. It is suggested that one use a provisional cast on to make sure the edge is loose. I did, and it is way to loose. I found that If I did a long tail cast on holding two 15 needles together the stretch was just right.
