for SWTC 2009
Let us praise designers with great judgment who know exactly what they're doing. Here Matthay takes an elementary shape and performs an elementary stitch pattern on it (albeit in a lovely lightweight cotton/bamboo blend). It's made in two identical pieces, a front and back. You sew those together and then add a little (really, it's very little) trim around the neck and armholes. The result is clever, engaging, unusual, and (depending on your colour choices) subtle or eye-popping, and wearable with anything (or not) any time of year.
