UKHKA 157 Jacket, Pram Rug, and Bootees (newborn - age 1)

The jacket here, in particular, delights us. Not only is it great-looking (and perfect for girls or boys, depending on your colour and button choices), but you can use up scraps from odd part balls! Marvellous for thrifty knitters. Pockets are patch, so if you leave them off, no problem. The blanket is worked all at once-- that is, the borders are all worked as you go. Knowledgeable knitters will realize that this means you will be using separate balls of the main colour for each edge. However, as long as you don't make this travel knitting, that's no obstacle, and the result is handsome indeed.

From the publisher: "The main aim of the UK Hand Knitting Association (UKHKA) is to raise the profile of hand knitting. It does this through 'Learn to Knit' classes held throughout the UK, 'Relax and Knit' stands at all the principal UK Knitting and Sewing shows, and by the introduction of National Competitions showcased at the Knitting and Sewing shows." To this end, no specific yarn is recommended-- just choose the appropriate weight of something you like and make sure you meet the gauge requirements.
