8 Minas Tirith - English

"Minas Tirith“ is a fictional city and castle in J. R. R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth writings. It became the heavily fortified capital of Gondor in the second half of the Third Age. It’s famous landmarks are the White Tower and the White Tree, the symbol of Gondor which only blossoms when a king returns to Gondor.

The tree and it’s blossoms are symbolized in this beautiful asymmetric shawl. The shape reminded me of the cuneiformed architecture of Gondor and so it became the namesake for the shawl.

Because of it’s asymmetric shape the shawl can be worn in different ways. The embossed leaves will be an absolutely eyecatcher which can be supported by the application of some tassels.

You need approx. 700 - 900 meters of sock-wool or similar yarn with 12 – 14 wpi (approx. 150 – 250 gr) and a circular needle size 3 – 4,0 mm.

The pattern is written clearly and easy to understand. It contains only charts (no written pattern!) a diagram and a link to a video-tutorial for the i-cord-bind-off.

The pattern is available in German.
