Solar Vortex

What do you do during the hottest week of the year? You knit wool socks, of course!

These socks were knit during a summer heatwave. The lovely sunny yellow in the yarn combined with the way the spiral pattern fans out like sunrays where the food ends and the toe of the sock begins reminds me of the sun. Hence the name, Solar Vortex.

Though instructions are given to knit these socks cuff down, the pattern is the same whether knit toe up or cuff down. The simple pattern repeat makes this a quick, meditative and relaxing knit.

The heel is added after the rest of the sock is finished so the spiral stitch pattern is not interrupted.
