50/50 Socks (Cuff Down)

"While I like to wear my hand-made socks in my shoes," explains Temple, "I find that crochet stitches are often uncomfortable to walk on. But having a short attention span, I often get bored during the leg part of a knitted sock! The 50/50 Socks combine knit and crochet in that I consider to be the optimal sock project-- they are fast, comfortable, and you aren't doing any one thing long enough to nod off. I made these with a heel flap and traditional toe, but you avid sock knitters can use the heel and toe techniques that you prefer-- the crocheting ends where the heel begins. I, for one, love all sorts of patterns with both knit and crochet in the same item-- who needs to choose?"
