"This is a great way to play with your collection of 'pretty' odd balls from your stash," says Porter. "I used 7 different novelty yarns, all different weights. They average themselves out to be a nice loose fabric. Tension is not too important as you are knitting from side to side." Porter, who owned a lovely yarn store for years, knows what knitters (and retailers) need: becoming patterns that aren't too challenging to make, but encourage creativity and use up your treasures. The lines here are all vertical and intensely flattering-- and it's quick to knit. Some minimal crochet required.
