for Classic Elite Yarns   2015

1514 From Folly Cove eBook

The designs in this spectacular eBook have a very specific inspiration. Farwell-Clay explains: "Virginia Lee Burton Demetrios is beloved for her brilliant books for children like Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel and The Little House, but she was also the organizing force behind The Folly Cove Designers, a group of mostly women who collaborated to hand print textiles in Gloucester, Massachusetts, beginning in the 1930s until shortly after Burton's death in 1968. I have a long standing appreciation of their work, and for how those women (for the most part) fit art and craft into their lives alongside family and practical concerns of life on Cape Ann during and after the Second World War. As a designer, I often see the potential for knitting in beautiful things, and this collection is precisely that. Every pattern in this book is inspired by the work and personalities of these women, and together are an homage to their legacy of design and collaboration." The eleven designs included here are available separately for $7 each, and include:

Annisquam Beret in Color by Kristin
Natti Turtleneck in Inca Alpaca
Meteori Shawl in Mohawk Wool
Kenyon Dress in Chesapeake
Lanesville Pullover in Liberty Wool Light
Cape Ann Stole in Vista
Iarrobino Butterfly Vest in Fresco
Iarrobino Butterfly Cowl in Fresco
Curtis Skirt in Mesa
Burton Hills Jacket in Blackthorn
Hetty's Garden Coat in Wynter

If even three of these appeal to you, buying the book is a much better deal than buying the patterns individually. You can save over $58 buying the book!
