6094 Kimono Jacket

In which we find a magnificent kimono with an extremely simple structure-- utterly contradicted by the lush exoticism of the stitch patterning. It looks almost like a Japanese garden itself, redolent with buds. The sleeves are rectangles that are knit separately and sewn on to the piece after the body is worked; the centre back panel is likewise worked separately. The instructions are very detailed, given row by row. Since all the lines are straight, sewing the pieces together is very easy. This is a piece whose silhouette is simplicity itself, but which rewards skill with a brilliant and singular (but casual) look.
