for Classic Elite Yarns   2000

851 Sound of Silence

This exemplary trio shows off the best of what's possible with Inca Alpaca. The soft, warm lightness of the yarn is displayed through very subtle means: touches of fair isle, a small bud stitch pattern (green garment), or the simple impact of a wide rib (done with yarn doubled, for a gauge of 16 sts = 4"/10cm on a US9/5.5mm needle). The looks-- even the fair isle-- are quite low-key and understated, classy and confident. As with the best of knitwear design, they don't seem to belong to any particular decade, just to the Good Taste Hall of Fame.
