Kit-Cat Handbag for Right-Handed Crocheters
This elegant little bag was tapestry crocheted with silk and #11 seed beads, making it an advanced project. Two beaded threads are worked at the same time to create the cat motif. One beaded thread is carried while the other is crocheted. The beauty of tapestry crocheting with beads is that each thread can be loaded with one bead color and only the color that is needed at the time is crocheted to form a pattern while the other threads are carried.
When crocheting with beads, the bead naturally slides to the back of the stitch, so the back of the stitch is on the outside of the bag. The hook is inserted from the inside of the project to the outside while crocheting. The motif is twelve stitches wide, so the total number of stitches in the base is a multiple of twelve. It’s possible to make a variety of sizes with the same design motif by increasing or decreasing the length of the foundation chain. The instructions and graphs are for right-handed crocheters (there is another pattern for Kit-Cat Handbag for Left-Handed Crocheters).
