Norah Gaughan,

for Classic Elite Yarns   1998

695 Moonlight at her Window

When this pattern first appeared, the founder of the Knitting Guild of Canada (Cindy Nicholls) pounced on the cable sweater pattern, made it, and gushed over it in the KGC magazine. It is indeed a Gaughan masterwork, demanding and intense, but also intensely rewarding of the effort. It's entirely charted, with no written-out instructions for the cable patterns. The vest is a combination of Provence (still gloriously available) and Atmosphere (gone-- try Classic Elite's Commotion?), a skinny cotton pigtail effect yarn that was used doubled. Contrary to the photo, neither garment has waist shaping, but who cares, when they look this good? First gauge is for cable sweater over seed stitch; second is for the vest over pattern.

Judi - please disregard my earlier question. The link didn't work on my iPad, but worked find on my laptop. Thank you for providing this correction to the chart!

Judi - your link to illustrate the error on the chart no longer appears to be active. I just purchased the pattern (Sept 2012). Do you know if the error in the charting has been corrected?

There is an error on "Intricate V-Neck" that I confirmed with the designer, Norah Gaughan. A cable is crossed in the wrong direction on one of the charts. Here's an illustration with a notation of the mistake:
