4455 Cardigans (birth - age 7)
Aren't these extraordinary? The elaborate lower body evokes some kind of delicate dream-garden, where pixies and fairies frolic (and Arthur Rackham lurks close by, painting the scene). Fronts and back are made separately, then are sewn together with raglan sleeves. We are grateful for the severe plainness of the upper garment, since all the wonder should be focused at the embellishment, and not at the actual structure of the piece. Neckline/ border finishing is done all at once, from lower right to lower left edge.
