Stephanie Rothschild

for Spiralstitch Designs   2007

This tank is really sensuality incarnate. Without being overt, it just reminds you that there's sex in the world every time you look at it. The colour in which it's shown contradicts its own nature; the silver is like armour, but the silk fibre belies the colour-- and the way it holds the body is the opposite of armorial, despite the garment's slight empire lines. The yarn is knitted perhaps a little more tightly than usual, to counteract any innate silken tendency to stretch. The baby cables covering the bodice provide even more structure, cling, and coverage. Front bodice is knit first, then body picked up and knit down from there; back is knit plain from the bottom up.
