Hulda Hakonardottir

for Istex - Iceland   2011

31-13 Jon

In this dramatic-but-traditional yoke sweater, Hakonardottir has melded the beloved Flying Geese motif with a spectacular mirrored effect and grand use of shaded colour. The result is magnificent, at once classic and avant-garde, suiting confident men and women perfectly. Both body and sleeves are constructed (as you might have guessed) in the round, united at the yoke, and finished seamlessly. Underarms are grafted-- we don't count this as sewing. And if you use a split-splice to join in new yarns as you go-- and the Lopi yarns were born for this-- you will have virtually no ends to weave in! This design is from Lopi Book 31.
