James C. Brett
JB187 Sweaters (age 10 up)
Here are two stunning pieces, both dramatic because of the silhouette, depth of the V neck, and yarn. But the drama is very clean and simple in the plain version, while in the cabled version a 2-cable combination panel contributes to the visual impact. The difference in scale between the two is huge. The braid cable is inherently centred; the two-stitch cables flanking it are actually mirrored. The back is plain st st, so you're looking at all the hard work (such as it is). Both versions sport the deep welt and raglan shaping. Because there are two versions of the garment and two big pictures, the type is a little small.
