Fiona Ellis

006 Sparrow Lake Mittens

These, says Ellis, are "mittens with Celtic Knot Cable patterning... Right & left mittens are mirror images. They are knit in the round. The cables are both charted and have written line-by-line instructions."

These stunning mittens were designed specifically for the 2013 Knitting Camp run by Julie Schilthuis of The Needle Emporium in Ancaster, Ontario, held annually at the Bayview Wildwood resort in Muskoka. Beth Casey of Lorna's Laces designed the Sparrow Lake colourway exclusively for them. It's fair to say, then, that these are indeed Special Occasion mittens-- but then everyone who sees them will acknowledge their specialness without knowing the story.
