1548 Modified Extended Hemlock Ring Tablecloth or Blanket
"This pattern is an adaptation of the 'Hemlock Ring Doily'," explains White, "-- designed to be a medium sized doily. The stitch pattern of the original was not compatible with extended rounds. Charted extensions, by Jared Flood, were intended for blankets made from wool fibres. Using Jared's chart and the original pattern, I further extended the Hemlock Ring for wools from round 87 and up to round 147 with written instructions. After knitting the complete project... I was devastated to realize that it could not possibly be blocked as knitted. My version has been modified so that it can be knitted from cotton, acrylic, and/or blends with ease in blocking-- even with wool." See data pages for gauge information. Mr. Flood has kindly given permission for his work to have been used in the publication of this pattern for sale.
The multi-colored project shown was worked, beautifully, by my friend Suzanne Oswald. She has graciously allowed me to present the pattern as a blanket from her collection of completed knits. Thanks, Suzanne!
