31-2 Solkross (ages 2 - 12)
WEB EXCLUSIVE

In most every respect these are very traditional, wonderfully attractive hooded pieces that would delight any child. But Hakonardottir has added a practical pocket (or, in the case of the cardigan, two pockets) embellished with a Wheel or Sun Cross (or sections thereof). This ancient symbol dates back to the Neolithic to Bronze Age periods; its significance at that time is unknown, but in modern astronomy and astrology it represents Earth. The symbol is easily worked in intarsia on the knit-flat pocket. We love how the motif's contrast colour is used to trim the garment. This is Design 2 from Lopi Book 31.
