6051 Little Henley Crew and Boots (birth - age 3)

If there is a more polished, sleek, stylish use of garter stitch for a baby, we have yet to see it. As you can see, the front (and back) yokes are finished off at the tops with garter ridges-- an extension of these forms the buttonband as well. The back neck is dipped slightly, and the shoulders are drop. The hems are garter ridges too; the instructions have you do a full side seam, but if you wanted to leave the garter bits unseamed, that would make a nice traditional split welt. The rounded sleeve caps are topped off in garter, as is the neckband. This is just a gorgeous sporty gansey look that's very easy to work.

The boots (knit flat and seamed) are only available in the first three sizes, to fit up to age 2; 2 - 3-year-olds will have to content themselves with shoes.
