Counterpoint (shawl and scarf)
When contrasting movements in music are produced as one note or melody is simultaneously played against another one, the result is multi-dimensional sound. In the same way, the Counterpoint shawl uses contrasting colour, bias construction, and short row shaping to create a design with non-stop interest.
No two sections are the same. They endlessly play against each other in varying tones.
When worked in a self-striping yarn, these differing notes are clearly sounded. Yet this pattern would also work well with a solid colour or handpainted yarn with gentle variegations.
