2364 Cape (ages 4 - 12)

Here is a splendid piece that's quite easy to knit, but looks really impressive as a Finished Object (FO). You start by making the main body piece as a long rectangle with no special shaping-- ribbing running along one side, seed stitch along the other. Then you pick up around the seed stitch edge and work the 3 x 2 rib up from there, shaping for the shoulders as you go. Otherwise all is gentle merriment, with just the wide front borders and collar to add. Striking in a bold colour, it would look very much more historical in a pastel.
