James C. Brett
JB145 Jacket (age 10 up)
"Jacket", says the pattern offhandedly. Right, and "Moby-Dick" is just a book. We have wanted one of these for a long time, but specifically in a chunky weight so it wouldn't take eight years to knit-- and then this design arrived. To begin at the beginning: the upper fronts are the only places with cables. The upper bodice, fronts and back, is shaped with increases as you work up from the waist to the armholes, all on a double moss field; the lower skirt is a vast swath of double moss too. Left and right borders are worked separately (to meet at back neck) in 2 x 2 rib, then sewn in place.
